A J-7 aircraft of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force on a training mission in Hubei province crashed, damaging several houses, CCTV reported.
According to the channel, one resident was killed and two were injured.
The pilot, who suffered minor injuries, successfully ejected from the plane and parachuted to the ground before it crashed, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Both the pilot and the injured civilians were sent to hospitals.
Videos circulating on social media show several houses on fire, believed to have been caused by an accident near Laohekou Airport in Xiangyang, Hubei province.
According to state media, the cause of the crash and related casualties are being investigated, and a prompt response is underway.
