Banana Boat Sunscreen Spray Recalled Because It May Contain Carcinogen

An internal review of Banana Boat Hair & Scalp Sunscreen Spray SPF 30 found that some samples contained trace amounts of benzene, which is classified as a human carcinogen. Edgewell Personal Care Co., maker of Banana Boat products, is recalling three batches of sunscreen spray nationwide.

The expiration date for recalled batches is December 2022, February 2023, or April 2024.

The recall stated that while benzene is not an ingredient in Banana Boat products, “unexpected levels” of the carcinogen were found in the spray fuel.

Edgewell Personal Care stated that consumers should discard the damaged product and be offered a refund. More information about the feedback can be found here.
